Back in the late 1980's Frank Miller's work was in no small part responsible for ushering in a new era of comics with darker, grittier versions of heroes like Batman and Daredevil. While his work was always a little misogynistic (you only need to look at his portrayal of women in books like Sin City and Daredevil Born Again for that) there's no denying what a huge influence he had on the comic book industry, and Batman in particular.

While his output of late has been questionable, with Holy Terror receiving criticism for being little more than a propaganda piece, his Dark Knight Returns was legendary. The Absolute Dark Knight cover was recently auctioned off to its very lucky new owner. While it would be amazing to own a work this iconic, I have a feeling posting pretty pictures is about as close as I'll get.
